Marques Toliver - “White Sails”
Why is Marques Toliver not a bigger thing? He’s young, a skilled violinist, a sharp lyricist, and has one of the smoothest, most pleasant, most naturally crisp voices out there. Listening to his EP and demos is pure pleasure and I’m excited to see how he further develops this music that is infinitely mature and eloquent.
I find his music so unassuming. There are no stunts in it.
I get the feeling he was one of those kids who constantly sang made up songs. Maybe that’s reading too much into it, but I hear so much joy in his music. It sounds so unselfconscious. And I feel like he’s the kind of person you see live and end up being moved to tears. It’s just beautiful.
